St Columba’s Church Islay

Previous consultation has demonstrated the need for improved facilities serving the communities in South Islay. Building on this previous work, this document introduces further consultation focusing on the perceptions of rural deprivation and looks to enhance the provision of new facilities by incorporating the concept of “Health and Wellbeing”.

Having outlined the facilities that are proposed in a new community Health and Wellbeing Hub, two site options were appraised and it was concluded that the demolition of the St Columba Hall to enable a new build facility is the best option. Plans for this site, capital costs, financial projections and considerations on marketing and risk reduction are examined as well as sources of potential capital and revenue funding.
